Sara Rahanjam’s work engages themes of female identity and women’s role within society. Born and raised in Iran, Rahanjam has endured many forms of oppression. Her work explores concepts of patriarchy and the effects of limiting cultural belief systems that seek to suppress the advancement of women.
Her artistic practice is both a method of self-healing and an opportunity to share her experiences with larger audiences. Through her art, she hopes to reflect the collective thoughts, feelings, desires and pain of her people.
